My name is Sajalieu Bah. I was born and raised in Sierra
Leone, West Africa. I attended St. Edward's Primary School between 1979 and
1986. I proceeded to St. Edward's Secondary School and graduated in June
1993 with SC/GCE 'A' Levels. I was in Browne House (Green). I spent the next three and the half years at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, majoring in Political
Science. I was a proud member of Davidson Nicol Hall (D'Nicol
Dynamism: Yellow). Unfortunately, within a few weeks from graduation, I was forced to
flee Sierra Leone for the United States due to the Civil War.
Between 1997 and 2001, I served on active duty in the United
States Navy. While in the Fleet, I served aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN
72), the USS Ingraham (FFG 61) and the USS Ford (FFG 54). I participated in two major deployments (Westpac) to the
Arabian/Persian Gulf. It was quite an experience to see so many different places,
including the Middle East, Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific, while
serving my new country. My homeport was first, Everett and then, Bremerton,
two beautiful towns just a few miles away from downtown Seattle, Washington.
I have been living in Seattle for the past two years
or so. Before then, I lived in San Francisco, California for about a year
where I worked at the State Bar of California. I
returned to Seattle in September of 2002 to start law school.
I recently graduated with a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Laws in International
Development Law from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle. My immediate goal is to
acquire competency in different practice areas with an emphasis on
litigation while maintaining a global
perspective on the law.
